For the past few weeks, as the Minnesotans and the country have been watching the trial of Derek Chauvin and reliving the trauma of the killing of George Floyd and after the mass shooting of Asian-Americans in Atlanta, neo-Nazi stickers promoting antisemitism and anti-Black sentiments appeared in multiple locations in Mankato and St. Peter. Then, on Sunday, April 11th, Daunte Wright, another unarmed Black man, was shot and killed in Brooklyn Center. The targeting of marginalized people on the basis of race, religion, gender, etc. has a long history in the US. We must fight for a better future against the hate, violence, and discrimination of white supremacy.
On Sunday, April 18th, community members, groups, and organizations will be gathering to stand up against hate in all its forms but especially antisemitism and anti-Black racism. We stand together in solidarity to condemn these acts. We stand together to state that we will not tolerate or ignore hate in our communities. We stand together to demand justice, healing, and dignity for all who continue to suffer at the hands of white supremacy.
